The Muppets(2011)


The Muppets is a 2011 American musical comedy film, the first Muppets theatrical release in 12 years.
In the film, Walter (performed by Peter Linz), the world's biggest Muppet fan, his brother Gary (Jason Segel), and Gary's girlfriend Mary (Amy Adams) must help Kermit the Frog reunite the Muppets and raise $10 million to save the Muppet Theater from Tex Richman (Chris Cooper), a businessman who plans to demolish the studio to drill for oil.
The Muppets is directed by James Bobin, written by Segel and Nicholas Stoller, produced by Segel, Martin Baker, David Furnish, David Hoberman, Todd Lieberman, and John Scotti, and features Bret McKenzie as the music supervisor. The film was first announced in March 2008, with production commencing in September 2010. The film premiered at the 2011 Savannah Film Festival, and was released by Walt Disney Pictures in North America on November 23, 2011.
The film won an Academy Award for Best Original Song for the song "Man or Muppet", written by Bret McKenzie; the first Academy Award presented to a Muppets movie. The Muppets is also the highest-grossing film of the franchise to date, and the most acclaimed installment in the series.

Storyline

When 3 Muppet fans learn that Tex Richman wants to drill under the Muppet Theater for oil, Gary, Mary and Walter set out to find the Muppets who have been split up for years so that they can put on one last show and save the Muppet Theater. Kermit the Frog now lives in his own mansion depressed in Hollywood, The Great Gonzo is a high class plumber at Gonzo's Royal Flush, Fozzie Bear performs with a tribute band called The Moopets, Miss Piggy is the plus-size fashion editor at Vogue Paris, and Animal is at a celebrity anger management rehab center in Santa Barbara.
